Launching Innovation with M/V Sophie C and M/V Buena Fortuna
ABCML made a bold entrance into the maritime industry with the acquisition of M/V Sophie C and M/V Buena Fortuna, pioneering the 'All Aft' vessel design. This innovative layout, positioning cargo holds at the front, marked a significant leap in shipbuilding, opening a path for future advancements in maritime logistics. Our pioneering spirit during these foundational years laid the groundwork for ABCML's reputation as a leader in maritime innovation, highlighting our dedication to forward-thinking and excellence in an era of rapid technological advancements.
Revolutionizing Bulk Transport with Self-Discharging Ships
The 1970s saw ABCML enhance its operational capabilities by introducing cranes on three Spanish-built ships, a move that revolutionized self-discharging operations in Lagos, Nigeria. This innovation led to the construction of specialized ships in Japan, KOYO and OSHIMA, which dramatically improved the efficiency of bulk cement unloading. These developments not only addressed Nigeria's cement importation bottleneck but also positioned ABCML as a global leader in self-loading and discharging operations, showcasing our capabilities on the world stage.
